I am not really sure about when the party will be, depends if we have anyone entering the Concoction/party contest, which would be cool too. I just figured I'd pick a time or area when I get a chance to look at the schedule when it comes out.  It would be cool if we get enough interest to have an on going SCA area at least for future Frolicons.

My current ideas are, kilt inspections, complete with blue ribbons, I'm even thinking of making blue ribbon cock rings as well. Cloven fruit/edibles, wet chemise contest. Period examples of 'kink' garb/toys/etc, I'm not sure if this will be a contest or not yet, maybe for future Frolicons. Bawdy bardic circle. 'Bunny' Dances, where the dancers will only be allowed to wear 1 square foot of fabric/fur/leather/etc, or less.  That's what I have so far.

I am also thinking of widening the normal SCA period to include Colonial, Civil War, and other historical periods because I think it would be really cool to see what other reenactors can come up with.

I am hoping I can generate enough interest with these parties to eventually have an unofficial SCA version of Frolion somewhere.

Okay, since I know there are many people who are more computer savvy than me, I'll give it a post.

So, Joe got me a new laptop for Xmas. (Yea Joe!) I'm at the point where I want to move files off of our external hard drive (our network storage device where all my backups are) to the laptop and free up my XP machine for other uses.

The external drive requires a login and password. Windows 7 keeps adding the name of the laptop to the login (i.e. blue\login) and we can't get this machine to drop the Domain (the blue part) of the login.

Anybody have a clue?

TIA

My friends and I developed a social networking/media site specifically for poly people. The social network section of the site is at http://www.modernpoly.com/community. We also have a blog section where members and visitors can submit one-shots or become regular writers for the site. The blog portion is at http://www.modernpoly.com

The site has bi poly's, pagan poly's, kinky poly's, gamer poly's, and a whole bunch of other type of poly people :)

A few friends and I are organising a series of day-long couch potato days in the new year. For the first one, the theme is fantasy movies. Now one of our friends makes me feel ancient, she's 21, and HarryHausen stuff on TV aside, hasn't really seen any of the 'classic' pre-1998 fantasy movies (she only saw The Dark Crystal</i> for the first time last month). I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, thus far the list of potential movies are:

Highlander
Krull
Hawk the slayer
Legend
Dragonheart
Excalibur
Robin of sherwood : The swords of Wayland
Big Trouble in Little China
Conan the Barbarian
Ever After
Troll (one ,not two. It would take the promise of untold riches and Allyson Hannigan dipped in toffee yoghurt to make me watch that again)

has anyone any suggestions for others? (Beside the 2 Dungeons and Dragons films, see Troll 2 above)

I am planning a Society of Consenting Adults party/revel/bardic circle for the next Frolicon. So I need ideas, I need a find a way to have an indoor bardic/fire circle. I am also thinking of wet chemise contests, 'bunny' dances, bawdy songs, 'kinked up' garb contests and more. Y'all are of course invited to come, and if you know of any like minded SCAdians, Rennies, etc feel free to bring them along as well. X-posted several times, sorry if you see it more than once.

Out of a conversation today (and my ongoing broodiness, lol) does anyone know how adoption agencies in the UK treat Poly households?

Aside from my inability to have kids I think the world is overpopulated as it is, adoption seems to be the way to go.

(this would be a way-off thing, at this point I'm just curious)

I am sure that some of you have extensive home libraries, so I thought I would ask here.

My parents have a very large library, several thousand books, with no catalog system at all. Like a lot of folks their age, they do not "need" anything for the holidays. So, I was thinking of getting them some sort of catalog software that uses a bar code reader. It would have to be fairly intuitive and not heavy on hard ware as none of us are computer geeks.

They have a laptop that can be hooked to the internet to retrieve the ISBN information to commit to this project. It is older but less than 10 years old, still works well, just slow and not good for much else. I will be helping them out setting it up, including getting the laptop set up. I have about $150 to spend on this project.

Does anybody have any recommendations for software, bar code readers, how to set them up so that it will be easy and hopefully fun to keep it up?

Thanks for your help!

ETA: Sorry, I meant to mention I did Google but there are so many options, I am looking for personal recommendations, thanks again.

So it turns out Tiger Woods has something like 10 mistresses. And a lot of people seem shocked and scandalized as the details come out. Now I don’t support people lying to their spouses or misrepresenting themselves, but come on- when are Americans going to recall the thousands of times this exact same thing has happened before and become less shocked? Hi guys!

Now that I've given up WoW, I find myself in the market for a new game. An single-player offline game, something that'll just be there whenever I get to it. I'm kind of missing good ole' Neverwinter Nights, but i hear NWN 2 wasn't so great and I don't have money to throw at a bunch of different games before I find a good one.

Can anyone suggest a good old-fashioned RPG like NWN for me? Shiny pictures, good mechanics, good story...?

For a long while now I've been thinking about getting "Tat Tvam Asi" (Sanskrit for "You are that") tattooed on my left arm. It's a talismanic phrase for me--when I start to feel not ______ enough, especially in the context of having a crush on someone, it reminds me that I am not separate. I lack for nothing. I and the Universe and the Divine are one.

But I feel uneasy about getting a tattoo in a foreign language from a non-Western religious tradition. I don't want to be appropriative or look just like all the people who get kanji tattoos without speaking an Asian language because it's "cool". Otoh, I like the idea of my tattoo being a reminder to me without immediately being intelligible to everyone who sees it.

Can any of you think of an equivalent symbol or phrase from the Western mystical traditions? "As above, so below" doesn't quite do it for me.

Can anyone recommend a registry for a .com.

I'm setting up a website for my little company that will be making all sorts of nerdy geeky things.

Our incorporation won't be through for a while, but the registras in Australia insist on all that for a .com.au (and $150 for 2 years).

Any US registrations services good? Any suck? I have a static IP, can set up a server, just need to register [ourname].com and point it at our IP number. This without needing to wait for company name registration which would be more like "ourname enterprises Pty Ltd" anyway, leading to ournameenterprises.com.au.

We'll be making goth clothes, stage and cosplay costumes, geeky t-shirts, keyrings, Ball Jointed Dolls, hats, pagan themed cards and gifts, occasional green/eco-friendly things too.

I've never found that to be a problem within this group, but I understand why this is being asked:
